& Sounds of Soul

Sisaundra Lewis always knew she wanted to
be a singer.
The youngest of eight children, the Florida native got her start singing in
her father’s church at the age of five. In fact, she credits her success
largely to her strict Christian upbringing. She also credits her parents,
mentors, and friends. But, of course, being graced with talent plays the
largest part.
Lewis packed up that talent, along with her life-long desire to sing, and
moved to Atlanta to work in the insurance business. Once there, she unpacked
her desire and began singing with a band, and the band began touring the
East Coast states.
Touring eventually took her and the band to Japan where she met R&B artist
Peabo Bryson. With that introduction, and her considerable talent, she took
another step toward the next level of success in her career. Bryson asked
Lewis to join him on tour as a duet partner and background vocalist.
Bryson also introduced her to Grammy and Oscar Award winner Celine Dion.
Lewis then began working with Dion during breaks from touring and recording
with Bryson. Soon, she began touring and recording with Dion as a background
vocalist. She also became vocal director and choreographer for Dion’s group.
Between her work schedule with Bryson and Dion, Lewis found time to record
with other noted artist like Gloria Estafan, Patti LaBelle, Nana Mouskouri,
Andrew Lloyd Webber and Jim Steinman, Sting, Janet Jackson and Kenny
Lattimore.
And her talents surpass vocalist, she also writes, arranges and produces.
Her producer/writer credits include work with David Foster, Emilio Estafan,
Andrew Lloyd Webber, Marvin Hamlish, Ric Wake, Sting, Sean ‘Puff Daddy’
Combs, Jim Steinman, Gordon Chambers, Phil Gladston, Tony Moran, and Lois
Holland.
She’s also made appearances on shows like The Tonight Show (with both
Johnny Carson and Jay Leno), The Arsenio Hall Show, The David Letterman
Show, The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Grammy Awards, The Juno Awards, and
many more.
In fact, she even entertained President Clinton at his inauguration. And she
performed at Corey Simon’s wedding celebration. Simon, a defensive lineman
for the Philadelphia Eagles, and bride Natasha Givens were married in
Orlando in March.
Somehow in her busy schedule Lewis also finds time for work on television
commercials. Her on-air credits are lengthy including Sears, JC Penney, Dr.
Pepper, Sprite (with Orlando Magic basketball player Grant Hill), MCI (with
basketball great Michael Jordon), Pepperidge Farms, Certs, KFC, McDonalds,
Sun Micro Systems, GE, Dentyne, General Foods International Coffees, Arby’s,
Publix, Applebees, Shower to Shower, Show Time, General Motors, Belks, Kelly
Services … and the list still goes on.
Eventually she grew tired of the years on the road. When Dion began winding
down her touring schedule to start a family, Lewis took advantage of the
break in the action to return to Central Florida and put together her own
group.
She handpicked some of Orlando’s very best musicians to join her in the new
group, The Sounds of Soul. Lewis and her band cut a CD titled
"Live" and they’re now a favorite at many premiere venues in the area.
Combining both a glorious vocal instrument and performance skills, she
approaches her love for music with an incredible assurance. Her soul is
filled with music. Listen and enjoy the authentic, soulful sounds of
Sisaundra Lewis.
