 The venue banned photography
during the show, but Jarreau smiled
for the camera after. The concert

 Summer Evening Concert series.

 The venue and concert series
 presents a fabulous evening of
 music accompanied by breathtaking
views of  the Blue Ridge Mountains

Guest Shot Pics ... from Jacksonville's SeaWalk Pavilion where Kai Alece opened the show for keyboardist Brian Culbertson, and Culbertson's band featured Michael Lington on sax!

Kai Alece's debut CD is titled Reason, Season or Lifetime

Michael Lington will finish his stint with Culbertson's
tour before starting his own tour to support his
current release, Stay With Me.

Keyboardist Brian Culbertson has a big stage presence ... and lots of showmanship and energy too.

Culbertson burned up the keys and steamed up a rainy Sunday afternoon ... and there was more cookin' than just the keys! Culbertson also plays the trombone and includes quite a bit of the instrument in his music.

Backstage (right), Dr. Otto took  a moment to reflect during a private serenade.
Onstage (below and bottom, right) the doctor was in the house ... and in the spot light  ... as he and his band opened the show for Acoustic Alchemy.

Greg Carmichael and Miles Gilderdale of Acoustic Alchemy.

Don't let the name fool ya!
Sure, Acoustic Alchemy features the acoustic guitar work of Carmichael and Gilderdale ... but they also feature incredibly high-energy playing that rocked the House!

Guest Shot Pics ... from Jacksonville JazzFest!
The multi-day, multi-venue event included performances by Joe Sample, Patti Austin, Poncho Sanchez, Liz Wright, Michael Buble, Branford Marsalis, Keiko Matsui, Groovin' for Grover, Concord Jazz, George Benson, and many others.

Two jazz greats performed Friday night ... Joe Sample opened the evening, Patti Austin followed.

Saturday afternoon brought more jazz from Poncho Sanchez and Liz Wright. Later, Crooner Michael Buble took the stage, and Branford Marsalis followed ... and so did bad weather. A rainy afternoon turned into a
stormy night causing the Guitars & Saxes set to be cancelled.

Even though Sunday's weather was predicted to be worse than Saturday's, the skies cleared to a
sunny day for sets from Keiko Matsui and Groovin' for Grover
(featuring Paul Taylor, Gerald Albright, and Richard Elliot ... Jeff Lorber
not shown).

Another jazzinorlando.com favorite, Plan 9, finished out the day ...
Drew Bentley's unique guitar (pictured below, left and right ) is more frame than fill ... which gives a whole new meaning to the term "air guitar"!

Guest Shot Pics ... from the second of three Festival Friday events. This one featured Kim Waters ... next up, Firefall on April 30th! (Sponsored in part by 103.1 WLOQ.)

Kim Waters came back to Festival Friday's this year, and the crowd liked it just as much as last year.

Listeners bought CD 'til they were sold out, and Waters stayed to give autographs for all who asked.

Later in the afternoon, WLOQ contest winners were treated to a private party with Waters. The Blackfin hosted the party, and there was lots of conversation, food, and fun for everyone.

Guest Shot Pics ... from the 45th Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival featuring Teirney Allen (w/Phillip Martin on sax), Eric Marienthal, Jonathan Butler, Ed Calle, and Joyce Cooling!

Cooling got it right when she thanked fans for coming out ... without you

guys, none of this would be possible!

Sunday's headliner, Joyce Cooling, is the real deal. She and partner, keyboardist Jay Wagner, compose all of her music, plus she sings as well as plays guitar.

And (whew!) there's more ... she's a genuinely nice person too!

Ed Calle brought out a huge crowd of appreciative listeners for his Saturday show ... and, as always, there were lots of songs with a Latin beat that got 'em dancing!

Jonathan Butler was on
fire for the closing set on Friday night. Marienthal joined him on stage near the end ... and pics of the two are shown below.

Onstage together ... Butler & Marienthal heat things up!

Eric Marienthal played the sweet spot on Friday night!

His performance was the perfect way to way to take the day into night ...and a what a great warm-up to his jam with Jonathan Butler later in the evening.

 Tierney Allen (above)

Tierney Allen's band included two jazzinorlando.com friends ... and favorites! ... Phillip Martin (above left) and Krystof Sebrakowski (above right)!
